Granite Countertops

The Enduring Appeal of Granite Countertops

Granite countertops have long been a favorite choice for homeowners in New Hampshire and designers seeking a combination of natural beauty, durability, and timeless appeal. As one of the most popular materials used in kitchens and bathrooms, Custom granite countertops offer both aesthetic and functional benefits that make it a standout option in modern and traditional interiors alike.

Granite is an igneous rock formed deep within the earth very common in New Hampshire, composed primarily of quartz, feldspar, and mica. Each slab of granite is unique, featuring a wide range of colors, patterns, and veining that reflect its natural origin. This individuality allows New Hampshire homeowners to choose a countertop that truly suits their personal style, whether they prefer bold, dramatic tones or subtle, neutral hues.

We believe one of the key reasons for granite’s popularity is its exceptional durability. It is highly resistant to heat, which makes it ideal for kitchens where hot pans and pots are common. Granite is also resistant to scratches and cuts, although using a cutting board is still recommended to protect both the surface and kitchen knives. When properly sealed, granite countertops are also stain-resistant and can handle the occasional spill of wine, oil, or acidic liquids without permanent damage.

Maintenance of granite countertops is relatively simple. A regular cleaning with mild soap and water is usually sufficient to keep the surface looking its best. Sealing the granite periodically—typically once a year—is necessary to maintain its stain resistance and preserve its natural luster.

While granite can be more expensive than other countertop materials such as laminate or tile, many Merrimack, New Hampshire homeowners view it as a worthwhile investment. Not only does granite add elegance and sophistication to a space, but it can also enhance the overall value of a home. Real estate agents often cite granite countertops as a desirable feature that appeals to prospective buyers.

In recent years, advances in quarrying and fabrication techniques have made granite more accessible than ever. With a wider range of finishes, edge profiles, and installation options all of which Jericho Stone specializes, We will work with you to customize your granite countertops to suit your kitchen and bathroom design.

In conclusion, granite countertops combine natural beauty, strength, and long-lasting performance. Whether you're renovating an existing space or building a new home, Jericho Stone is your number 1 granite source for those seeking a luxurious yet practical surface that will stand the test of time.

Quartz Countertops

Benefits of Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops have gained popularity for use in both kitchens and bathrooms, largely due to their impressive durability, low maintenance requirements, and sleek, modern appearance. These countertops are composed of natural quartz crystals, mixed with resin and pigments, which allows them to effectively combine the strength of stone with the versatility of contemporary design.

One of the standout features of quartz countertops is their exceptional durability. As one of the hardest minerals available, quartz offers remarkable resistance to scratches, chips, and stains, making it an excellent choice for areas that experience high traffic and frequent use. Unlike other materials such as granite or marble, quartz countertops do not require sealing, which greatly simplifies the maintenance process for New Hampshire homeowners.

Another significant advantage of quartz countertops is their consistent color and pattern. Engineered quartz provides a wide variety of styles and designs, ensuring that the showroom samples closely match the final product, which helps Merrimack homeowners achieve the exact look they desire.

Quartz surfaces are non-porous, effectively preventing the growth of bacteria, which makes them a safe option for food preparation areas. Cleaning these surfaces is also straightforward; mild soap and water are often sufficient, eliminating the need for special cleaning products.

While it is true that quartz may be more expensive than some other natural stones, many homeowners find long-term value in its combination of strength and aesthetic flexibility. For anyone considering renovations or planning new builds, quartz countertops present a stylish and functional choice that can enhance the overall appeal of any home.

Marble Countertops

Marble Countertops: Classic Elegance for the Modern Home

Marble countertops have been synonymous with luxury and sophistication for centuries. Known for their timeless beauty and distinctive veining, marble surfaces add a sense of grandeur and elegance to any kitchen or bathroom. While marble may require a bit more care than other materials, many homeowners and designers find its aesthetic appeal well worth the effort.

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from limestone under intense heat and pressure. This natural process gives marble its signature veining and unique patterns, which range from subtle and wispy to bold and dramatic. Popular varieties include Carrara, Calacatta, and Statuario, each offering its own blend of color tones and veining styles. The uniqueness of each slab ensures that no two countertops are exactly alike, making marble a truly one-of-a-kind addition to your home.

One of the main reasons people choose marble is for its visual impact. The soft, luminous quality of the stone reflects light beautifully, giving spaces an airy, upscale feel. It's particularly favored in classic or traditional designs but can also provide a striking contrast in contemporary or minimalist settings.

Functionally, marble is a smooth and cool surface, which makes it ideal for baking and pastry preparation. However, it's softer and more porous than granite or quartz, meaning it can be prone to scratches, etching, and staining if not properly cared for. Acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar can dull the surface, and oils or wine may leave stains if spills aren't cleaned promptly.

To maintain marble countertops, we recommend regular sealing multiple times per year, depending on usage and the type of marble. Gentle cleaning with a pH-neutral cleaner or mild soap and water is usually sufficient for daily care. Avoiding abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals is essential to preserve the surface's integrity.

Despite these maintenance considerations, marble remains a top choice for those seeking a luxurious and classic look. It’s often seen as a long-term investment, enhancing a home’s aesthetic and potentially its resale value. For those willing to put in the extra care, marble offers a beauty that few other materials can match.

In summary, marble countertops bring an unmatched elegance to any space. While they require more attention than some alternatives, their unique beauty and timeless appeal continue to make them a favored option in homes around the world.
